what keeps me up…

“what keeps me up...” is the first normal the kid project and chapter of his story. the story is all about the things that keep normal the kid up at night. losing friends, the feelings he couldn’t quite define, the idea that his future wife would have to deal with his constant depression, and his everyday battle with comparison.

writing this while he was in his worst health of his life, normal received incredible feedback despite not being known or having any following. people in tears, sending long heart felt messages of thanks because it was the first time they felt understood.

ever since this project, normal realized that this format of writing the things that happen in the mind was more than just good music. It was a healing therapy that people clung to in their worst moments.

“home.” was the first song to reach ten thousand streams on Spotify and began gaining traction in all areas of the world. The entire album was created off the cheap SHURE microphone, Focusrite interface, and broken headphones in his bedroom. It is a true bedroom pop album. The low quality and nostalgic lyrics are what truly what made this project all the more special.

“labels have tried to get me to remove the songs because of their low quality. i want to be real with my fans, i want them to see where i truly started.”
